Qualifier #2 for the Central Texas Division greeted 172 Student Anglers with a brisk 34 degrees slap in the face as the made their way to their starting spots on Lake Belton December 5th presented by OT Jersey and Reelers Shield.

2019 Championship winners, 2020 Central AOY Anglers of the year and multiple wins and top 10 finishes including winning FAN Central Qualifier #1 on Lake Travis this season. The Texas Boat World team of Landen Bennett and Ty Eaton continue to put their mark on the 20/21 season with an impressive win with Captain Lowell Bennett. Bringing a 5 bass limit weighing 12.00 pounds. They each took home a newly released Kistler Graphite Series Rod. Captain Bennett won the Academy Sports+Outdoors Gift Card. Congratulation team.

Coming in a close second place by a mere .73 of a pound was the Gatesville Hornets Team of Case Wendeborn and Clifton Heath and Captain Eric Wendeborn. They earned the second place spot with a 5 fish limit weighing 11.27 pounds. They each took home an H20 Ethos Bait Casting Reel and Captain Eric received a Academy Sports + Outdoor Gift Card.

Gatesville Hornets continue to bring home the hardware with the team of Bradey James and and Jastin Muegee and Captain Robbie James. They also brought in a 5 bass limits weighing 10.87 Pounds and valuable points to go along with their Abu Garcia Pro Max Spinning Reels. Captain James received a pair of Berkley Sun Glasses.

Earning the Kistler Big Bass Award with an impressive 7.02 Pound Largemouth Bass was Breck Gifford. He and His Partner Peyton Moye representing Centerville Tigers Fishing Team with Captain Jimmy Gifford. Breck took home a Kistler Graphite Rod. Well done team.

Our Permit requires all FAN members to follow CDC Guidelines and they will be strictly enforced by Park Enforcement. Wear mask and social distancing.

  • Boat numbers will be randomly picked on Thursday Dec 3rd and posted by Friday Evening Dec 4th.
  • All rules should be understood and be mindful that FAN will utilize polygraph during the 2020-2021 season. FAN RULES 
  • Student anglers 17 and older must have a valid TX Fishing License.
  • We will message last minute changes or updates on the FAN Facebook page.
  • We will be using GroupMe for tournament day communications Register for GroupMe here

Weigh in

Check in at Temple lake Park – LINES OUT AT 2PM and you must be check in by 2:30 at the designated location.

DO NOT BRING YOUR FISH TO CHECK IN. JUST CHECK IN GO BACK TO YOUR BOAT AND WAIT FOR YOUR WEIGH TIME TO COME TO THE HOLDING TANKS.

BOATS 1-25 at 2:30 PM

BOATS 1-50 at 2:45PM

BOATS 51-75 at 3:00PM

BOATS 75-100 at 3:15PM

BOATS 101-150 at 3:30PM

Who is eligible?
Registration is open to all 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. The entry fee for each tournament is $40 a boat with two team members and a qualified captain. Each team member must be a FAN member. Contestants must also have the signature of a parent or legal guardian in the provided space on the liability form of the online membership registration. Each team must consist of two eligible student contestants and one adult boat captain. 

Weigh in – First flight is due in at 2PM at the holding tanks. You must be checked in at the check station on your designated flight time or be counted late.
 
Registration-  Teams must register by Wednesday December 3rd 9PM  


Registration deadline will be the Wednesday prior to the tournament via online registration and payment only.  Late registrations may be considered Saturday for complete teams only and will be added to the bottom of the boat launch sequence. Please contact info@faithanglernetwork.com with any questions regarding registration or if you will register late.
 
Captains will also be recognized with the Academy Captains Awards including a $50 Academy gift card for the winning Captain and another $50 Academy gift card and an Angler Aid Safety Kit in a random Captains drawing

FAN Central opened the 20/21 season on Lake Travis hosted by The City of Jones Town and Presented by Abu Garcia.

246 Student Anglers were greeted with a chill in the air as they launched their boats to compete in the season opener for the Central Division. The weather would improve as the day progressed and Lake Travis would not disappoint as one of the hottest fishing days of the year with over 42 5 bass limits were brought to the scales.

2019 Championship winners, 2020 Central AOY Anglers of the year and multiple wins and top 10 finishes the Texas Boat World team of Landen Bennett and Ty Eaton put their mark on the 20/21 season with an impressive win with Captain Lowell Bennett. Bringing a 5 bass limit weighing 17.81 pounds to include a 5.70 kicker they each took home a newly released Kistler Graphite Series Rod plus the Kistler Big Bass Rod. Captain Bennett won the Academy Sports+Outdoors Gift Card

Representing Lake Travis HS Fishing was the team of Patrick Fagan and Cannon Bartosh with Captain Brandon Fagan taking second place honors with a 5 bass limit tipping the scales at 14.42 pounds. Their efforts not only gave them valuable points they each took home an Abu Garcia Rexo X and captain Fagan with an Angler Aid safety Kit.

Taking third place with their top five fishing weighing 14.16 pounds was the Liberty Hill Fishing Team of Michael Evans and Holt Avery and Captain Lee Evans. They each took home a very nice Abu Garcia Tackle System.

Earning the Kistler Big Bass Award and the new Junior Angler Water Body Record for Black Bass on Lake Travis, Representing Vista Ridge High School was Aidan Cruz with a beautiful Large Mouth weighing 7.32 Pounds – He and partner George Contos with Captain Zach Santos had of total of 4 bass for 9.57 Pounds, Aidan took home a new Kistler Graphite Rod ready to catch the next big bass.

Congratulations to the top 10% who will qualify for the Championship with over $12,000.00 in Scholarships and Prizes. Provided they compete in at least 3 of the 6 qualifiers this season.

NO GUESTS WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE PARK- IT WILL BE CLOSED TO NON-RESIDENTS FOR WALK-IN-DRIVE-IN PURPOSES.

Presented by Kistler Rods, Academy Sports + Outdoors, Amenity Solutions and Berkley Fishing! 

The first FAN South Qualifier of 2020-2021 was held last Saturday on Canyon Lake and it was one for the books (literally)!!

It was a picture-perfect day for a tournament with amazing weather for the teams who came to compete for a spot in the Championship with over $12,000.00 in Scholarship and prizes.

This season-opener was also the largest FAN South Tournament ever, with 85 teams competing.

The team of Chandler Banks and Grady Walters from Guardians Bass Club took 1st place with 9.24 lbs, which included the Kistler Big Bass of 7.62 lbs caught by Grady Walters. The black bass caught by Walters ties the Junior Lake Record for Canyon! Captain Bradley Banks. They each took home a newly released Kistler Graphite Series Rod plus the Kistler Big Bass Rod. Captain Banks won the Academy Sports+Outdoors Gift Card

Earning a VERY close second place with 9.30 lbs was the team of Turner Matkin and Luke Wyle from Boerne Greyhounds, Captain Aaron Wyle. Each angler won a Abu Garcia Rexo X

Third place was Kase Kramer and Rance Penick from Fredericksburg Battlin’ Bass with a nice 8.68 lb bag. Walters’ record-tying fish wasn’t the only record fish brought in. Avree McFarland caught a 2.32 lb smallmouth bass which is being submitted to TPWD for the Junior Lake Record as well! Captain Clint Bronson- They both took home a very nice Berkey Tackle System.

The next FAN Qualifier will be the FAN Central tournament on Lake Travis held Saturday, October 24th. By all accounts, Travis is fishing well and we should see some big bags come in that day.

Whats New this season

Championship Eligibility

To be eligible for the championship, the angler must have fished at least 3 of the 6 qualifying tournaments in either division.

Top 10% of Qualifying Events per division.

The top 50% of qualifying anglers based on their total points per division.

Angler-of-the-Year Scholarship Awards ($1,500 per division) Plus a Custom FAN AOY Jersey presented by OT Jerseys the official Fishing Jersey for FAN

Championship Scholarships – This season we will award $12,000 in scholarships and award the top 5 places at the Championship Tournament. (1st Place – $4,000 • 2nd Place – $3,000 • 3rd Place – $2,500 • 4th Place – $1,500 • 5th Place – $1,000)

  • Adult captains may launch at other ramps but must have their boat for check-in at the official launch site the morning of the tournament.

About the lake:

Canyon Lake is located on the Guadalupe River in Comal County, Texas. Canyon Lake has 80 miles of scenic shoreline and covers an 8,230 surface acre area.  You will find Canyon Lake located approximately half way between San Antonio and Austin, approximately 14 miles northwest of New Braunfels on FM 306 west from IH-35.

Canyon Lake is one of the deepest lakes in Texas with an average depth of 43 feet and is great for fishing. The reservoir was first stocked in the 1970’s and has an abundance of Largemouth Bass, Catfish, and White & Striped Bass.


Captains will also be recognized with the Academy Captains Awards including a $50 Academy gift card for the winning Captain and another $50 Academy gift card and an Angler Aid Safety Kit in a random Captains drawing.
