🎣 107 Teams Brave the Rain at Lake Belton

107 teams braved the weather to kick off the 2026/27 FAN season on Lake Belton. And while the fish may have had the natural advantage of already being wet, by the end of the day, 100% of our student anglers were wet too. I guess that evened the playing field!

Despite the rain, our anglers and captains battled through the conditions, and the FAN Family showed once again that a little Texas weather wasn’t going to keep us from a great day of Faith • Fishing • Friendships.

We weren’t able to have our normal faith message due to the weather, although there were a few unconfirmed reports of an ark sighting somewhere around Lake Belton. 🌧️🛶

All joking aside when the scales closed, Ty Gass and Ethan Del Rosario of the Llano Fishing Team stood at the top of the 107-team field with 13.86 pounds, with Brady and Mason Palermo close behind at 13.48 pounds.

🎣 FAN Fishing Derby — All In, Rain or Shine!

The rain certainly didn’t stop our FAN Fishing Derby anglers!

Eight young anglers braved the weather at Lake Belton, with four competing in the Junior Division and four in the Student Division. Both divisions were evenly represented by Boerne Bass Club and Bass Club of Champions.

These young anglers — and the volunteers who served alongside them — were 100% all in, embracing the rain, having fun and making memories along the way.

🏆 Junior Division

Most Fish — Ben Glauser, Boerne Bass Club

Ben had quite a day. In addition to winning Most Fish in the Junior Division, he landed the Overall Big Fish, a bass weighing 4 oz., taking home two honors from Lake Belton.

🏆 Student Division

The Student Division ended in a tie for Most Fish, with each angler catching one fish:

Mazon Garza — Boerne Bass Club
Korina Williams — Bass Club of Champions

A huge THANK YOU to the parents and volunteers who embraced the weather right alongside our anglers. Your willingness to show up, get wet and invest in these young people is what makes the FAN Fishing Derby possible.

Rain or shine, this is what Faith • Fishing • Friendships is all about.

🏆 Road to the FAN Championship

Lake Belton marked the first opportunity of the 2026/27 season for teams to begin earning their way to the FAN Championship at O.H. Ivie, May 15–16, 2027.

Anglers must fish at least four of the five qualifying tournaments to be Championship eligible.

Teams can qualify by finishing in the Top 10% at a qualifying tournament or by finishing in the Top 50% of qualifying anglers based on total points.

With four more qualifiers ahead, Lake Belton was only the beginning.

What a way to start the season.

Rain, 107 teams, some great fish hitting the scales and a whole lot of wet student anglers made Lake Belton a season opener we won’t soon forget.

Thank you to our student anglers, captains, parents, volunteers and sponsors who showed up, embraced the conditions and helped make the first event of the 2026/27 season a success.

A special thank you to SCHEELS Cedar Park, our 2026/27 Title Partner, and all of our FAN sponsors whose support helps make these opportunities possible for our student anglers.

Building character, one fish at a time.
