FAN held its third qualifier of the season at Choke Canyon Reservoir on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Hosted by Bass Club of Champions, presented by Kistler Rods, with 213 student anglers and captains attending. We had a traditional blast off following the National Anthem sung by Bass Club of Champions LBJ winners Truitt Tucker and Owen Thorton along with a prayer from Cibolo Creek Community Church’s very own Kristin Burford. The weather was perfect, but fishing was a little tough. 71 teams gave it their best effort for a shot at the win and earn those crucial AOY points. These anglers fished hard for the chance to qualify for the 2023-2024 FAN Championship with over $15,000 in scholarships, prizes, and the coveted Angler(s) of the Year title.
Ty Gass and Ethan Del Rosario of Llano Fishing Team took home first place with a five fish limit of 12.21 pounds mentored by their captain Allen Gass. They both took home a plaque, the New KYRIOS Casting Rod From Kistler Rods, first place hats from the Bass Club of Champions and valuable points. Captain Gass won a Gift Card. – Great job team!
Coming in second place were Andrew Krall and Callen Combs of Bass Club of Champions and Boerne Greyhounds, respectively. Their 3 bass bag of 11.43 pounds was anchored by the Kistler Rods big bass of 6.99 pounds going to Callen Combs which earned him a New KYRIOS Casting Rod. They each took home a plaque, the New KYRIOS Casting Rod From Kistler Rods second place hats from the Bass Club of Champions
Third place was a tie between two teams with 5 fish bass weighing in at 11.25 pounds. The Boerne Bass Club team of Coulter Willy and Kaedyn Katzer has the bigger bass on
the two teams at 3.96 pounds. Third place honors were shared with Barrett Gray and Eric Walker from Liberty Hill Fishing Team. They each won a New KYRIOS Bait Casting Reel from Kistler Rods
