FAN Central held their season opener on Lake Travis on Saturday. Due to low water levels, it was the first trailering event of the season. With over 297 student anglers and captains attending, we were truly blessed with beautiful weather conditions and a great day of fishing. Over 40 teams weighed in a bag of 5 fish out of the total 99 teams gave it their best effort for a shot at the win and also for those highly important AOY points and the chance to qualify for the 2022 Championship with over $15,000 in scholarships and the coveted Angler(s) of the Year title.
Kase Kramer and Rance Penick (2020/21 South AOY) with Captain Jeremy Morse took the win with a 5 fish limit weighing 16.12 pounds. They also weighed in the Kistler Big Bass at 6.53 lbs. They both took home a plaque, Kistler Rods, and valuable points. Captain Morse won the Academy Sports+Outdoors Gift Card. – Good job team!
Taking the second place spot was Boerne team Remington Stewart (Bass Club of Champions) and Braxton Ebner (Boerne Bass) with Captain Mike Stewart. They brought 5 bass to the scales weighing 14.59 lbs. They each took home a plaque and Kistler Series 2 reels.
Jarrell High School showed up on Saturday placing third with team Garrett Phalen, Tyler Howe, and Captain Brad Phalen. They brought in 5 fish weighing a total of 13.29 pounds. They each won an Abu Garcia Revo X reel in addition to plaques and a chance to head to the Championship in May.
