FAN wrapped up the 2023/24 season on June 1st and 2nd at Lake Limestone, hosted by Lake Limestone Campground and Marina. Over 230 student anglers, captains, and family members attended the tournament meeting, which featured a full taco bar with all the fixings under a big tent overlooking Lake Limestone. We truly appreciate the wonderful team at Lake Limestone Campground and Marina for going above and beyond to ensure our event was well-supported and successful.
The event included recognizing the seniors, each of whom received an Armor of God Medallion as a reminder of the strength and tools they carry into their next journey (Ephesians 6:11-18).
We also recognized the two Anglers of the Year, Ty Gass and Ethan Del Rosario, from the Llano Fishing Team. They each received OT-Wear FAN AOY custom jerseys and OT-Wear and FAN scholarship letters totaling $2,250.00.
Guest speaker Pastor Rowdy Lind from Connection Church spoke about our identity in Christ and the various excuses we use not to make Christ a priority in our lives. Thank. you Rowdy.
Sunday morning welcomed the Championship qualifiers to the 12,553-surface area Lake on the Navasota River, at full pool and stained from weeks of flooding conditions. As the sun rose, the morning breeze and mildly cooler temperatures turned into a typical Texas summer with a slight chance of thunderstorms. The heat prevailed, however; the thunderstorms held back, making way for another State Championship with over $15,000 in scholarships and prizes.
The brother & sister duo of Jonny and Ellory Hulce with Bass Club of Champions, captain Jonathan Hulce, take top honors winning the State Championship with 17.82 including the Kistler Rods Big Bass at 5.24 pounds. This awesome win will also set a record for the first female student angler to take home the coveted championship award.
Second place with a five fish limit of 16.85 pounds and Last Years Angler of the Year Braxton Ebner with Boerne Bass Club and Remington Stewart of Bass Club of Champions with captain David Ebner.
Taking 3rd place was another family team. Brothers Ian and Za Scnhupp Boerne Bass Club brought 3 bass to the scales including a 4.61 kicker for 10.06 pounds. Captain Craig Schnupp.
