FAN HSF kicks off the 2018/19 season and the South Division on Coleto Creek Reservoir August 25th hosted by Berkley Fishing.
With over $13,000.00 in Scholarship funds this season the FAN High School Fishing Tournament Series will see some of Central and South Texas’ best student anglers compete in 3 divisional qualifiers and a Wild Card event to earn a chance to compete in the 2019 Championship. Student Anglers in each division will be competing for the Academy Sports + Outdoors Angler of the Year which includes a $1000.00 Scholarship and the Berkley Select Angler Program
“We are very excited to launch the South Division!” stated Jeff Cook Executive Director of Faith Angler Network. “We have been in prayer for this for many years asking God to show us when and how He would open the doors to this new opportunity to serve Him and grow FAN into new markets. Stacy and her family have stepped out in Faith and are building a great program. We are looking forward to supporting and serving the student anglers, captains and their parents in the San Antonio area.
“We are very excited to bring FAN High School Fishing to the student anglers of South Texas. We believe wholeheartedly in the mission of FAN and the sport of High School Fishing as a whole and look forward to an exciting and successful inaugural season!” stated Stacy Berry, South Texas Division Director
With the rapidly changing lake levels on Canyon Lake we have moved the season opener to Coleto Creek Reservoir at Coleto Creek Park.
The Coleto Creek Park and Reservoir, located midway between Victoria and Goliad, is a joint project between Coleto Creek Power and the GBRA. At normal pool elevation it covers 3,100 surface acres with 61 miles of shoreline. The main purpose of the reservoir is to serve as a cooling pond for the Coleto Creek Power coal fired power plant. The reservoir is fed through four major creeks from a 507 square mile drainage basin. The average depth is eleven feet and the reservoir maintains at a constant level.
